Parent-Infant Dyadic Therapy

Supporting the wellbeing of infants and young children, ages 0-3, within the context of a healthy attachment relationship is key to building a foundation for healthy social, emotional, and cognitive growth. In order to support infants, we must also support their most important relationship — the relationship with their parent or caregiver. It is within the context of a safe and reliable caregiving relationship that children are able to develop the capacities needed to thrive.

Parent-infant dyadic therapy (Infant Mental Health) aims to promote the development of secure relationships between infants/young children and their parents and caregivers; support the healthy physical, emotional, and cognitive development of babies; and, strengthen the capacity for each partner in the parent-infant relationship to learn and grow together.

“Parents and children help each other to grow. In raising their children, parents are also raising themselves. Child rearing gives parents the chance to redo their own childhood and to improve on it.”
