Individual and Family Therapy

The journey through pregnancy and birth often involves experiencing a range of emotions from joy, anticipation, and excitement to anxiety, fear, and grief. Individual and family therapy, offered from pre-pregnancy through early-parenthood, can help you to navigate this emotionally complex time.

Most mothers and fathers hear that pregnancy and parenthood are “the best times of your life!” But these experiences can also involve challenges that impact overall wellness. When it comes to pregnancy and birth, there can be a surprising amount of loss: loss of the familiar, a shift in identity, and strained relationships with partners and family (to name a few). Pregnancy and birth can also come with unplanned and devastating losses, like miscarriage and stillbirth.

Many women also experience changes in mood during and following pregnancy, including perinatal and postpartum anxiety and/or depression. Partners, too, can face challenges adjusting to parenthood, including experiencing anxiety and depression after the welcoming of a new child. Fathers may also face the repercussions of societal expectations surrounding toxic masculinity and what a “traditional” father should look like.

We hear you. We understand you. And we care about your story. We can’t wait to start working with you on your path to healing and mental wellness.
